You Actually ARE the Center of the Universe

I’ve been having a personal crisis lately, because my daughter is moving overseas with her husband, who is a U.S. Marine.  I am very proud of them, of course, and so glad that they will get to be together during this assignment, but it’s just killing me that they will be so far away for so long.

One day, I ran into an acquaintance whose son happens to be a Marine also.  I mentioned that my daughter and her husband were leaving and said, “It’s just killing me.”

She replied, “Oh, because it’s all about YOU, isn’t it.”  And she smiled, but it was the kind of smile that made me want to punch her in it.

Well, the truth is that MY life IS indeed all about me.  And my daughter’s life is all about her.  Why shouldn’t I be sad that my daughter is moving halfway around the world and I will miss her terribly?  Why should it not make me sad that a grandchild could be born while they’re gone and I probably won’t be able to be there?

The truth is that YOUR life is all about YOU too.  You were probably told at some time in your childhood that “The world doesn’t revolve around you” or “You aren’t the center of the universe.”

But in reality, it does.  You are a creator, you create your own life, in tandem with the Creative Forces of the Universe.  And everything that you have created is about you.

So how does that affect those around you, if their lives are about them?  Well, we all provide messages and information and experiences for one another.  It’s an intricate tapestry that is so brilliantly woven together that everything happens just as it should for each one of us.

And your life is all about you.  So go ahead.  Make it all about you.  And punch that sanctimonious smile!

Help Yourself, Help Others

shrug 1 (2) t-uI love to find answers to some of life’s biggest questions.  I’m always looking and listening for them, so it’s very satisfying to find them!

This time, it’s about what happens in your life, the experiences and relationships you attract and create as you go through your life.

It’s been said (quite often) that everything happens for a reason, and you may know that I always say,
“Everything happens not for A reason, but for many reasons.”
And my corollary to that is, you may not ever know all the reasons for something, but they are there.

You may also know that I talk about there being messages contained in everything we experience–what happens in a day, what we overhear, thoughts in our heads, songs on the radio, and especially in synchronistic occurrences.  Our lives are about getting these messages and putting them to good use, finding out what makes us happy (and what makes us unhappy) and how to bring more of those happy times to us.

Well, I got a little more insight into that the other day.

I was talking with a client whose husband passed away about 5 years ago.  My own husband has been gone 17 years, and I always knew that there would be some way I would wind up helping someone because of that.  (There are many other reasons and “good” things to come out of my husband’s death, but we’ll save that for another time.)

My client is a relationship coach and she developed a program to help her clients find love after loss.  So she used her experience to help other people, right?  And now, she is divorcing her second husband, which I also did.  Because my experience came first, I am able to help her with hers.

Here’s another example.  How many people have you known who survived cancer and claim that the experience changed their lives forever?  (For better or worse.)  How many of them helped someone else in a similar situation, or became a doctor or other healer because of it, invented something to help cancer patients, volunteered for Hospice, inspired others, and on and on?

The late comic Ron Shock produced a series of videos from his cancer diagnosis to the end of his life, talking about his situation and sharing stories from his life in comedy.  (He was a very funny guy and I recommend looking up his “Cancer Chronicles” on You Tube.)

In one of his stories, Ron talked about his oncologist, whose wife got cancer during Ron’s treatment.  What are the odds?  That someone in a cancer doctor’s own family would get cancer?  Did that doctor lose someone he loved to cancer when he was growing up?  Was his father (or mother) a doctor?  Did he just feel the calling?

Do you see where I’m going with this?  Your life is all about you first.  Become self-aware, and you will be other-aware.  Help yourself and you can help others.  Get the message for yourself, then help someone else in need of getting that same message.

Happy Helping!

What your favorite color says about you – Red

5241_MedYou may know that I work a lot around the colors of energy.  If you’ve had a reading from me, you know that I give you a “color snapshot” that tells you what color is primary in your life energy at the moment, and then I explain what that means.  Similarly, I read auras (even though I don’t call them that) and I relate what I see in colors, shapes, and location around your physical body.  This all helps me to interpret for you just what you need to know.

I understand and work with color so much that I decided to help you understand it better too.  This is why I have written this series, What Your Favorite Color Says about You.

It’s as the title says; however, I realize that some people don’t have a favorite color, and some people have more than one.  That’s okay.  Here are some ways to determine what color or colors pertain most to you and your life:

  • If you have an actual favorite color, well, there you go.
  • If you have a secondary and tertiary favorite, those will pertain to you too.
  • Look in your closet:  What color/s are most prominent in your wardrobe?
  • What color is your car?  This is applicable even if you did not choose the color of your car, maybe even more so.  I notice that people often wear the color/s that are present in their energy, and that their cars and other  belongings tend to have them too.
  • If you really, really don’t have a favorite or un-favorite or a strong opinion, you’re a rainbow!

Each color has a “light” side and a “shadow” side, or positive and negative.  (Note:  This does NOT mean good and evil!  Everything is useful and there is no devil!  But that’s another story…)  I’ll call them “bright” and “dark” because we describe colors that way.  You may consider the “dark” version of the color to be your un-favorite, but either or both may apply to you.  See how you identify with the following.

We’re going to start with red.  If red is your favorite color or your un-favorite color (or otherwise present in your life; see above), here are the ideas and values you are concerned about:

Red overview:  Passion, anger, support, inflammation

Bright red:  You tend to be involved with and close to your family of origin, which can include grandparents and people who are like family from your childhood.  You may enjoy memories of your growing-up years and remember those years fondly.  You also know how to be independent, and you don’t suffer  a lot of drama with your family.  You stand on your own two feet and stand up for yourself.  You support yourself spiritually and emotionally, and you take care of your most basic needs.  You’re good at self-care.

Dark red:  You may have unhealthy emotional attachments to or be estranged from your family of origin.  You tend to have trouble taking care of yourself and wonder how you wound up like you did.  You might blame your parent/s for things that you don’t like about your life.  You may have a background of having been abused, and it’s hard for you to take good care of yourself, which leads to you depending on others and trying to please others so they will give you what you need.  To go back toward “bright red”, remember that you came into this life to be happy, and that you and only you have created and can create or re-create your life.  Of course, there is plenty of help for you to learn to do that, including books, websites, teachers, and, of course, me!

What your favorite color says about you – Orange

OrangeThis is my continuing series about the colors of energy.  The first four paragraphs explain the process, then we’ll get to today’s color.

You may know that I work a lot around the colors of energy.

This time, our color is orange.  If orange is your favorite color or your un-favorite color (or otherwise present in your life; see above), here are the ideas and values you are concerned about:

Orange overview:  Create, children, sexuality, partnership/marriage, creativity; a lot of school teachers will be “orange” people.

Bright orange:  You are very creative, whether in traditional “crafty” ways or in the way of often having original ideas and/or completing projects with ease.  You may be paternal/maternal toward your own children or others’, or your pets, or everyone.  Marriage and partnerships are important to you and you feel they are worth working on to make them good.  You feel that you have a destiny to create something in this life and leave a positive legacy.  You like to be happy as much as possible, and it bothers you to have a bad day or mood.  You also prefer that everyone gets along, so you may be a peacemaker.

Dark orange:  You have been limited by circumstances from creating what you came here to create.  Marriage/partnerships may elude you and/or be difficult.  The dark side of orange often means that you have multiple romantic relationships that are toxic or just unsatisfying.  Children may be an issue for you, especially if you have fertility problems or if you have children that you have trouble connecting with.  This doesn’t mean you’re a bad parent, it just means that this is an issue for you.  Improve your orange energy by remembering that you did come here to create something(s) important, and that relationships are best when they are interdependent, not when you depend on the other for happiness and fulfillment.

This time, our color is yellow.  If yellow is your favorite color or your un-favorite color (or otherwise present in your life; see above), here are the ideas and values you are concerned about:

Yellow overview:  intelligence, self-esteem, divine value, anxiety or happiness, figurative “hunger” for knowledge of self, “gut” reactions

Bright yellow:  You have a strong sense of self and an awareness that you are more than the sum of your parts.  You are intelligent, probably more in emotional ways and “common sense” than in terms of scholarship, although that is certainly possible.  You feel like you have a purpose and you have value in your existence.  You like to do work that makes you feel good about yourself, and you like to do other things that do, such as dressing well, driving a nice car, or other things that show you’re a good person.  You are likely to volunteer to help others, especially in areas of literacy and support of schools/students/libraries.

Dark yellow:  You may struggle with low self-esteem and poor self-worth.  It seems like you can never get ahead or that you can’t prove yourself enough.  You may become anxious when it’s “your turn”, when it’s time to prove your mettle or when you have to make a presentation or turn in a report.  You don’t “trust your gut” very well and ignore your instincts and intuition, sometimes looking back and saying, “I KNEW it!  I wish I had listened to my instincts!”  Physically, you may have “tummy trouble”, pancreas issues/diabetes, liver problems, mid-back pain,  and/or a problem with your spleen.  To go back toward the “bright side”, pay better attention to your inner guidance.  Trust yourself, trust life, affirm often, “I have value; I am a child of God” and affirmations like those.

What your favorite color says about you – Green

This time, our color is green.  If green is your favorite color or your un-favorite color (or otherwise present in your life; see above), here are the ideas and values you are concerned about:

Green overview:  human-level, conditional, and/or protective love; an effort to be loving; heart; money (although there will be more of this in the bonus colors at the end of the series); contrary to a common phrase, envy isn’t really green!

Bright green:  You are very loving and giving, often to a fault, and you like for others to get along with you and each other.  You forgive easily.  It’s hard for you to understand other people who fight or who hate each other just because they disagree.  (This election must be really hard on you!)  Family and close friends are very important to you and you especially enjoy family meals and get-togethers, like game night.  Personal relationships are generally at the top of your list of priorities.

Dark green:  You may feel as though you are missing something.  You often love people who hurt you, and continue loving them, even though you promise yourself you won’t get hurt in that same way again.  Each hurt creates a little green brick in your wall of protecting your heart.  Physically, you may have any chest-area ailments, either chronic or acute.  What is actually missing is a love of self.  To go back toward the bright side, work on loving yourself first and seek the Divine Love that is within you, the perfect unconditional love that is All That Is.  “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” [Leviticus 19:18, Mark 12:31, etc.]  That means you love yourself FIRST and then love your neighbor with the same high regard.
