As far as I can tell, I’m the only one talking about this so far. Naturally, I want to go on record as the first!
This is about marketing, so if you’re an entrepreneur (or thinking of becoming one), listen up!
First of all, recognize that we are in a period of the re-emergence of the divine feminine. That link is to a video of the same name. You might want to check it out!
This means that the whole planet is coming back into balance, after many centuries of being more than a little masculine-heavy. Check out the video for examples. For our purposes here, I’m talking about what this means to marketing.
Think about it–the way goods and services are sold today comes mostly from advertising and marketing standards that were established in the ’30s and ’40s by men to sell to men. That means the techniques tell the potential customer to buy for reasons like this: It will make you seem more powerful! It will make your wife (or other women) want to have sex with you! It will make you feel like a man!
Don’t believe me? Look at car commercials. They are the boldest example of the last vestiges of cave-man advertising. (Sorry, guys–it’s probably insulting to you too!)
However, these days, about 80% of all purchasing decisions in the U.S. are made by women, including cars and men’s clothes. If you are selling (marketing, offering, whatever) now, you are mostly selling to women. And women don’t care if their husbands will sleep with them–of course they will! Women have that deal taken care of.
So what do women care about? Well, speaking as a woman myself, my favorite thing in the world is to sit around and chat. And than means… anybody? CONNECTING.
Women are all about connecting. We like to FEEL something, we like to empathize and sympathize, and we like to hear stories about people like us–or people who are different from us. And we like to help.
Why do charities that help children in foreign countries show pictures of the children and tell their stories? “Ana never knew her mother. Her father died of dysentery after serving most of Ana’s life in the defeated army. Ana would like to go to school. She dreams of someday becoming someone just like you. Help her to do that.”
Why? Because that’s what women respond to.
This is the New Marketing. And this is why social media are so important to business owners right now. Establish a personality on Facebook and Twitter. Share your story and/or the stories of your clients. You don’t have to pull on their heartstrings and manipulate them (like the charity example above–sorry for the cheese). You just have to be honest. Here’s an example:
“Here’s my client, Ana. When we started working together, Ana had been in the same dead-end job for 10 years. Her children were recently grown and had flown the coop. Ana’s husband had lost his job, and Ana was starting to wonder what the rest of her life would be like.
“After only two months in the XYZ course, Ana discovered that she was more content, felt better physically, and found herself looking forward to work every day. Another month later, and a great new job offer had landed in her lap.
“Today, Ana works in my company! She left that great job, because she loved the work we had done together so much, she wanted to help other people the way she had been helped. Now, she not only looks forward to work every day, she knows she is making a difference in other people’s lives.”
If you’re a woman, I know you can see how much better that is to you than, “Buy this! It’ll make you irresistible to men!”
And if you’re a man, you might also see its value, but if not, just trust me.
There will be MUCH more about the New Marketing, but this is a great start. Just remember to give me, your friend, the credit I deserve. ;o)
I used to call them “messages from the Cosmos”. Sometimes, I still call them that, or messages from my angels, or maybe even downloads.
The idea is that a thought comes to me that feels like a message from one or more unseen helpers. And this is how I do a lot of my work for others, but right now I’m just talking about the downloads that come to me “free”, without being FOR anyone in particular. Oh, sometimes they are for me, but more often, they are for me to SHARE.
It’s my job. It’s what I do.
And here are the recent ones:
An image of me with my arms up and out, my head thrown back in triumphant joy, and a brilliant light emanating from my middle. I “looked” (psychically) at other people, and saw that they had the same pose and the same light. From this, I realized that we are all the same, just as we are all one. I used to think that I somehow had more of something spiritual, and this showed me that we all have it–and my job is to help others to see or understand it too. Cool!
We are “constant beings.” This is different from “eternal beings” (which we also are). “Constant beings” means that we always have ALL of the spirit-God-higher-self-Universe-love-power-force within at all times. That part never changes. What shifts is our use and understanding of it.
“You’ll know.” Well, maybe this one was just for me. I’m not sure yet. But if you feel that it’s for you, it truly is. And I thought it couldn’t hurt to tell you that, because if you learn to trust your inner guidance, you WILL know.
The other day, a friend jokingly called me an atheist. I have to say, I took umbrage.
As tolerant as I am, and as much as I believe that everyone is entitled to whatever religious, philosophical, and spiritual ideas he may have, I have never understood atheism. It doesn’t make sense to me.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. First, I want to define atheism. “A” means “without” and “the-” means “god”. Thus, “atheism” means literally “without god”. (I used the lower-case, because atheism does not refer only to “the” god, but any god.)
It follows that “polytheism” means a belief in many gods, such as the ancient Greeks and the modern-day Hindu religion. “Monotheism” pertains to a belief in one god.
And on a related topic, “agnostic” means “without knowledge”. You may have heard of the Gnostic gospels, several versions of the Christ story that were written by the Gnostics, those who were “with knowledge” or “knowledgeable”.
But I digress. Regardless of these definitions, I am certainly not “without god”. I am among the most spiritual people I know! I don’t usually define myself, but please don’t call me an atheist!
Years ago, I had some oddball neighbors who were loudly-proclaimed atheists. They went as far as to create their own religion around atheism, by producing a weekly online radio show about it. I wondered what they talked about! Maybe that was more like anti-theism!
At any rate, I always wanted to say to them: If you love someone, you cannot possibly be an atheist, because love is God and God is love.
Now I have a whole lot more that I could say about GOD, but as long as you know I am the antithesis of an atheist… my work is done for now!
Until next time, y’all be good! Susan K. Morrow (4-19-10)
I’m often asked who my clients are, and what they are like. Are they like me? Or like you? Probably.
My programs and services are designed to help many different kinds of people, yet I find that most of my clients share certain characteristics.
Many of them are women, about 85%. Not a big surprise! With the re-emergence of the Divine Feminine, women are leading the world in awakening and enlightenment!
About half of my clients are mothers of grown (or almost-grown) children, many of them empty-nesters within the year of starting to work with me. This is a common time for women to start asking,
“Is this all there is?” “What happened to my plans for my life?” “What do I do with extra time?” “How do I grow myself and create the life I want, now that I have the opportunity?” Or maybe “It seems like I’m busier than ever… HELP!”
And 30% or more of my clients are at other transitional stages in their lives, such as returning to school, getting married or divorced, turning 30 or 40 or 50, or starting to care for an aging parent.
One other group that I get to work with a lot is entrepreneurs. I network a lot, so many of my networking buddies are also small-business owners, and we do get together!
Why are these wonderful women (and equally-wonderful-but-fewer men) interested in working with me?
I’ve asked them, and this is what they’ve told me:
Dani in Fresno, CA, said: I wanted to participate in the Master’s Course program because I had a reading with Susan and I really felt great afterward. I was hoping for an opportunity to work with her again. A few months later, I found out about her Master’s Course and I knew it would be the best fit for me so I signed up as soon as I could.
Leigh in Austin, TX, said: I already knew Susan from previous sessions and could easily expect some substantial information that I could use. I had some questions about my life plan and was excited to hear her input. I was also just plain curious about chakras and wanted to learn more – she was very educational and so easy to listen to/understand.
Teresa in Red Rock, TX, said: I had been searching for “something” when I participated in one of Susan’s teleclasses. Afterward, I was thrilled to be able to join her Master’s Course. Things began to change during the course and continue to change for me. The way I respond to my world and the way the world responds to me has changed and I feel better equipped and supported when dealing with issues that arise. Thank you, Susan, for helping me find my inner strength and power.
And even though my clients are all unique and uncommon, it’s easy for me to find things in common with all of them. That’s where the sweet spot is, in those common bonds, and the experiences we share that I have already been through, where I can help them to reach a new level of enjoyment in their lives. (4-15-10)
A few clients have asked me what the difference is between a medium and a channel. Throw in a question or two about psychics in general and it was time for me to clarify:
I am a medium. Maybe you’ve heard that before, or maybe you have experienced my work as a medium. But many people don’t know what a medium does. And then there’s this other word, “channel”, that many people have heard but don’t understand.
Fair enough. I can understand the confusion, because psychics, mediums (I prefer the proper plural, “media”), and channels are all woo-woo practitioners who deal in the unseen and the metaphysical. And I have even heard people who are these things misuse the terms. So here are my definitions that fit to the very best of my knowledge:
Medium: A living person who communicates in some fashion with the spirits of dead people. A medium may conduct seances or may communicate directly. John Edwardis a famous medium whose primary work is communicating with the dead. I am also a medium, although I am not yet as famous as John Edward.
Channel: A person who allows a non-physical entity/ies to enter his/her body for the purpose of communicating with living people. The channel may or may not be conscious of the information coming through him/her. Esther Hicks is a famous channel who channels non-physical energies who call themselves Abraham. I do not channel in this way; however, I do “take cosmic dictation” and channel information from your guides in Mystic Mails. But I don’t give my body over. My latest book, Channel One: 137 Messages from the Universe, is comprised entirely of channeled messages.
And what about the psychic? Well, a medium is always a psychic, but a psychic is not necessarily a medium. A psychic is someone who can sense information about others and often predict the future. Sylvia Browne is a famous psychic who also happens to be a medium. I am also a psychic. I personally do not see that a channel necessarily qualifies as a psychic, but channeling definitely requires a special spiritual gift, and it seems likely that a channel might also be psychic in some way.
There, I hope that makes it all clear as mud. If you have any questions about it, you know where to find me!–Susan K
