Birth of a Witch

What’s next? Goddess? Oooh, big-ass woo-woo revelation! I’m a witch! A real, house-haunting, broom-riding, cauldron-stirring witch.1 I have always known, but I didn’t know, you know? As a child, I was deeply interested in magic, witches, fairies, genies,...

2012: Apocalypse or Genesis?

This seems to be on everyone’s lips – 2012, the end of the world!  People have been talking about it and speculating about it ever since someone mentioned that the ancient Mayan calendar ends then.

Poppycock.

I have been asked to serve on a panel of psychics to discuss the “fate of the world” with regard to 2012, and I thought this might be a good time to talk about it here.  (BTW, if you would like to hear that panel for free, it’s in Denver, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Sunday, October 2, 2011, 1:00 to 3:30.)

You know that I am a philosopher more than a mathematician, so I’m not going to talk about the actual calendar (although I have studied it a bit, and it’s complex and not really scary), but I do want to talk about what’s going on with the world in general.

We have been entering a new age for quite a while.  Remember back in the ’80s when we talked about “New Age”?  Well, that’s because it is just that, a new age.  A new way of thinking and talking and feeling.  A new age of enlightenment and the re-emergence of the Divine Feminine.  A time of greater prosperity for all people.

2012 represents the true turning point, but energy and enlightenment have been speeding up for years, maybe decades.  You know all those “peace, love and understanding” people in the ’60s?  They were getting the ball rolling.  Remember “women’s lib”?  More people getting things to start the change.

And more recently, the stock market crash of 2008.  It affected the entire world economy.  And why?  Because there IS now a world economy.  No country stands alone any longer.  Even when Greece was crashing, it was only about 17th in world economies, but it had a massive effect on everyone else.

And that crash was part of the re-construction of many of the old ways and methods.  Old structures are breaking down so that new ones can replace them–better ones!

And this is what all of these things are about:  Welcome to the new age.

There will not be a cataclysmic event; the world will not end.  Relax!  But get ready for many more things to change and to change quickly.  We are coming into a time when prosperity will be much more available to many more people.

Is there a catch?  Yes.  If you dig in your heels and refuse to change what you’re doing, it will be harder for you.  Listen to what’s going on.  Listen to your heart, your inner guidance.  Notice how you feel when something happens.  Does this feel good or bad?  If you open your mind, does it feel better?

There is a lot of conflict around us, especially if you listen to the news.  Radical factions are hating on everyone.  Those are the ones who don’t want to change, even if it’s for the better.  Don’t worry about them.  They are also the ones who are resisting, so it’s harder for them.  Send them a blessing.

And finally, I will say this.  There is no gain without a loss.  There is no beginning without an ending.  So when it seems that something is collapsing, recognize that something is also being built.  And ask yourself if the new thing isn’t better than the old thing.

Enjoy the new age!  Enjoy 2012!  It’s going to be GOOD!

Entrepreneurs: The New Marketing

As far as I can tell, I’m the only one talking about this so far.  Naturally, I want to go on record as the first!

This is about marketing, so if you’re an entrepreneur (or thinking of becoming one), listen up!

First of all, recognize that we are in a period of the re-emergence of the divine feminine.  That link is to a video of the same name.  You might want to check it out!

This means that the whole planet is coming back into balance, after many centuries of being more than a little masculine-heavy.  Check out the video for examples.  For our purposes here, I’m talking about what this means to marketing.

Think about it–the way goods and services are sold today comes mostly from advertising and marketing standards that were established in the ’30s and ’40s by men to sell to men.  That means the techniques tell the potential customer to buy for reasons like this:  It will make you seem more powerful!  It will make your wife (or other women) want to have sex with you!  It will make you feel like a man!

Don’t believe me?  Look at car commercials.  They are the boldest example of the last vestiges of cave-man advertising.  (Sorry, guys–it’s probably insulting to you too!)

However, these days, about 80% of all purchasing decisions in the U.S. are made by women, including cars and men’s clothes.  If you are selling (marketing, offering, whatever) now, you are mostly selling to women.  And women don’t care if their husbands will sleep with them–of course they will!  Women have that deal taken care of.

So what do women care about?  Well, speaking as a woman myself, my favorite thing in the world is to sit around and chat.  And than means… anybody?  CONNECTING.

Women are all about connecting.  We like to FEEL something, we like to empathize and sympathize, and we like to hear stories about people like us–or people who are different from us.  And we like to help.

Why do charities that help children in foreign countries show pictures of the children and tell their stories?  “Ana never knew her mother.  Her father died of dysentery after serving most of Ana’s life in the defeated army.  Ana would like to go to school.  She dreams of someday becoming someone just like you.  Help her to do that.”

Why?  Because that’s what women respond to.

This is the New Marketing.  And this is why social media are so important to business owners right now.  Establish a personality on Facebook and Twitter.  Share your story and/or the stories of your clients.  You don’t have to pull on their heartstrings and manipulate them (like the charity example above–sorry for the cheese).  You just have to be honest.  Here’s an example:

“Here’s my client, Ana.  When we started working together, Ana had been in the same dead-end job for 10 years.  Her children were recently grown and had flown the coop.  Ana’s husband had lost his job, and Ana was starting to wonder what the rest of her life would be like.

“After only two months in the XYZ course, Ana discovered that she was more content, felt better physically, and found herself looking forward to work every day.  Another month later, and a great new job offer had landed in her lap.

“Today, Ana works in my company!  She left that great job, because she loved the work we had done together so much, she wanted to help other people the way she had been helped.  Now, she not only looks forward to work every day, she knows she is making a difference in other people’s lives.”

If you’re a woman, I know you can see how much better that is to you than, “Buy this!  It’ll make you irresistible to men!”

And if you’re a man, you might also see its value, but if not, just trust me.

There will be MUCH more about the New Marketing, but this is a great start.  Just remember to give me, your friend, the credit I deserve.  ;o)

Until next time, y’all be good!  (5-11-10)

Who Loves Ya, Baby? Or “Who Wants a Better Life Now?”

I’m often asked who my clients are, and what they are like.  Are they like me?  Or like you?  Probably.

My programs and services are designed to help many different kinds of people, yet I find that most of my clients share certain characteristics.

Many of them are women, about 85%.  Not a big surprise!  With the re-emergence of the Divine Feminine, women are leading the world in awakening and enlightenment!

About half of my clients are mothers of grown (or almost-grown) children, many of them empty-nesters within the year of starting to work with me.  This is a common time for women to start asking,

Is this all there is?”       “What happened to my plans for my life?”      “What do I do with extra time?”       “How do I grow myself and create the life I want, now that I have the opportunity?”       Or maybe      “It seems like I’m busier than ever… HELP!”

And 30% or more of my clients are at other transitional stages in their lives, such as returning to school, getting married or divorced, turning 30 or 40 or 50, or starting to care for an aging parent.

One other group that I get to work with a lot is entrepreneurs.  I network a lot, so many of my networking buddies are also small-business owners, and we do get together!

Why are these wonderful women (and equally-wonderful-but-fewer men) interested in working with me?

I’ve asked them, and this is what they’ve told me:

Dani in Fresno, CA, said:  I wanted to participate in the Master’s Course program because I had a reading with Susan and I really felt great afterward.  I was hoping for an opportunity to work with her again. A few months later, I found out about her Master’s Course and I knew it would be the best fit for me so I signed up as soon as I could.

Leigh in Austin, TX, said:  I already knew Susan from previous sessions and could easily expect some substantial information that I could use.  I had some questions about my life plan and was excited to hear her input.  I was also just plain curious about chakras and wanted to learn more – she was very educational and so easy to listen to/understand.

Teresa in Red Rock, TX, said:  I had been searching for “something” when I participated in one of Susan’s teleclasses. Afterward, I was thrilled to be able to join her Master’s Course.  Things began to change during the course and continue to change for me. The way I respond to my world and the way the world responds to me has changed and I feel better equipped and supported when dealing with issues that arise. Thank you, Susan, for helping me find my inner strength and power.

And even though my clients are all unique and uncommon, it’s easy for me to find things in common with all of them.  That’s where the sweet spot is, in those common bonds, and the experiences we share that I have already been through, where I can help them to reach a new level of enjoyment in their lives.
